'Shroom - Notions & Notations of a Novice Cook

‘Shroom

For karinats, who could use a comfort food right about today :DD

Boil some lasagna noodles in salted water.

While you wait for the noodles, take another skillet. Add some olive oil/butter/or whatever grease you want to use, and add about 3 cloves of grated garlic. Then sautee your mushroom (I used shiitake). Add some pepper to taste

**OPTIONAL: I also sauteed some cubed smoked beef with garlic beforehand, till they become crispy. You can omit this step and just jump to the ‘shrooms.

Once the mushrooms are browned, take them out and set aside.

Add about a tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet. Add 2 tablespoons of flour. Whisk. Then add about a cup of stock (basically you’re making a sort of gravy here). Stir until mixture thickens

Then put the ‘shrooms (and the beef/bacon/whatever) back into skillet. Stir

LAYERING:

I prefer not to put lasagna in containers/pots cause I think that sorta ruins the layering. So I layer them straight on the baking tin. You should not put the noodles as the first layer, cause they’ll burn. So I smeared some olive oil and sauce on the pan.

Then lay the noodles

Then spread the sauce mixture on top

Then put another piece of noodles. Instead of bechamel, I crumble some feta and drizzle some olive oil.

Then add another noodle. And lay the sauce again

Then another noodle, then some feta ( I also added a sprinkle of black pepper here). You get the point

Keep layering until: a) you ran out of noodles b) you ran out of sauce

Then pop them into the oven BAKE until the top gets browned.

TADAH!

And the setup for the picture above looks something like THIS

Tis’ aaaaaaaaall gooood :D
