Thank you! As a learning photographer myself I’m very happy when fellow photographers want to discuss techniques. There is no real secret to mine; I’m currently shooting on a Canon EOS 400D with the EF-S 18-55mm kit lens that came with it. As for the lighting I’m using natural sunlight as the source. It’s unrivalled for diffused lighting, IMHO, but because of its dependence on the weather I have to use different ISO speeds accordingly (The higher the ISO number, the more sensitive the image sensor is to light, vice versa). I mostly shoot at ISO 1600 because it can get very dim - the trouble with high ISOs is that you get very grainy pictures, but I’ve personally grown fond of it.
For my overhead shots I just simply arrange the ingredients on my wooden table next to my light source, like so:

Then put a chair next to the table, get up on it and pray I don’t fall. Zoom the lens out and shoot.
With a little luck and some post editing, I’d get something that looks a little like this:

You can read more about my photography FAQs here.
I hope this helps!

Yeah, I’ve noticed too, they’re really pretty! I’m sure if you put the pictures as standstills they’d get hundreds of notes—no joke.
