flawsinmoderation asked: YES! Custard was the word I was looking for - we don't have such a thing here. It'd be very pretty indeed and delicious. I thought they used a lot of spices, but not curry! I supposed only in India they used curry and China, it's interesting. But, hm, I'm sorry if I'm intruding but where were you raised? And where are you now? You like to travel around the world it seems. You know what's strange? I have thousands ideas for recipes, but I can't cook nicely, so they are wasted or stuck. Sad really
Hah I thought so! Definitely writing that down for a future project. Oh yeah most Indonesian food uses a paste made from too many spices to remember as a base, hence my lack of experience at cooking them.
Nah it’s okay.I was born in in Indonesia and then moved to Qatar and lived there for almost 10 years, so I learnt about Mediterranean cuisine in my time there. My family is still there now but I moved back for medical school. Because Qatar is a relatively new industrial country they have a lot of expats from different countries and so I was fortunately exposed to a whole range of different cultures. I’ve been to Cyprus and learnt a bit about Greek and Turkish food there and also have a Pakistani boyfriend so I learnt Indian & Pakistani cuisine for from him. Korean, Chinese and Asian cuisine in general have always fascinated me so I learn to cook them bit by bit, so technically it’s not really about travelling :)
You should give those ideas a go regardless how they’ll end up. Think of it as practice and you’ll get better at it with time :)
